Goblin Valley State Park
The desert regions of the southern portions of Castle Country offer colorful sandstone canyons, spectacular overlooks and fascinating formations encompassing many hundreds of square miles. There are numerous rock art panels, outlaw hideouts, remote desert pools and potholes, crack canyons and dramatic vistas. The lower Green River canyons provide excellent flat water canoe and kayak opportunities. Rest areas and overlooks on Interstate 70 through the San Rafael Swell provide excellent photographic opportunities.
Goblin Valley State Park, the Black Dragon area and the western entrance to Canyonlands are all contained within this vast desert expanse. Visitors are cautioned that this is very remote country - be prepared, make inquiries and plan your adventure wisely. Guide services and periodic inexpensive group tours are available.
