

| Castle Country's diversity continues with a fine selection of museums containing displays and information covering prehistoric, historic and current topic areas. Professionally designed exhibits, dioramas, recreations and artifacts await the visitor. All area museums accommodate group tours and most can arrange special interest tours and presentations customized to meet your needs. Most museums have gift shops and are an excellent source for guidebooks, area histories, desert plant and animal references, and general tourist information. Call ahead for hours of operation especially during off-peak seasons. Expect a modest admission charge or a requested donation. |

Full sized skeletons of dinosaurs and a magnificent Columbian
Mammoth greet the visitor in this curated museum. Learn about
the discovery of the Utahraptor featured in Jurrassic Park.
There are also excellent artifacts from the area's Fremont
Indian culture, as well as dioramas and displays about
village life and settlement patterns.

Part of Helper's National Historic District, the museum
has several floors of displays, photographs and memorabilia
covering coal mining and railroading in the region from
before the turn of the century to present times. They
have an extensive collection of video tapes, as well as
a large outdoor display of mining and railroading equipment. |

| This museum focuses on the region with tools, implements, and re-creations of an early home, mercantile store and lawyer's office. A visit here will give you a sense of what it was like to build farms and communities in the late 1800's and early 1900's |
| This quality museum facility highlights the geology, history, animal and plant life of the San Rafael Swell area. Replicas of dinosaurs and indian artifacts are two main areas of concentration. The famous "Sitterud Bundle," among the world's finest Indian artifacts, is on display, as are sculptures and mounted specimens. Area art and craft shows are often presented at the facility. |

With the emphasis on the Green River, its tributaries and
the history of its exploration, the facility offers one of
the best ways to understand the geology and geography of the
Colorado Plateau. There are displays of early river craft,
excerpts from journals of early explorers and an excellent video
presentaion. |
The gift shop houses one of the better selections of guide

| The drive to this quarry site, some of it on gravel roads, is worth the trip. It was designated a National Natural landmark in 1966 because of the extensive number of bones that have been excavated (over 12,000 bones from over 70 different animals). Visitors can walk through the quarry and view displays at the visitor center. Hiking and picnicking facilities are also provided. Hours are limited in off peak seasons so inquire before making the trip at the CEU Museum 637-5060 or the B.L.M. office in Price. |
