Nine Mile Canyon
line
This rugged and remote canyon begins 20 miles north of Wellington and stretches 40 miles along the northern side of the Bookcliffs. The canyon offers some of the best pictograph and petroglyph viewing on the colorado Plateau. The canyon's rock art has been featured in national Geographic and other national publications, and is prolific with over 1000 sites having been catalogued to date.

Cottonwood Panel - Nine Mile Canyon
Services and amenities are very limited, and identification or interpretation of sites is just underway. Currently, visitors to the canyon will need to seek out and find the rock art on their own. Several helpful guide books and a brochure are available at the CEU Prehistoric Museum in Price and other area locations. Visitors are encouraged to inquire about road conditions and amenities prior to touring. Guide services and periodic inexpensive group tours are available.
