Although driving through Castle Country can be inspiring and uplifting, staying close to the land or experiencing it in an "Up Close and Personal Way" greatly adds to the experience of this diverse and unique region.

There are numerous public and private camp grounds and R.V. sites that can accommodate you for an extended stay. Taking to the trails on your mountain bike, as a backpacker, or simply with your fishing pole or camera brings you closer to this land. There are high country and desert trails, of every degree of challenge and difficulty level, for the novice as well as the avid adventure seeker.

The Castle Valley Ridge trail system high on the Plateau is maintained by the Manti-LaSal National Forest and offers an alpine meadow, forest experience. The Fish Creek National Recreational Trail and left fork of Huntington Canyon above Scofield are popular for fishing, hiking and backpacking destination.

Lower elevation roads and trails are popular for mountain bikers and ATV's and are more accessible in the spring and fall. Popular hikes and rides are to be found in both Nine Mile Canyon and the San Rafael Swell areas.
