Russell Thomas was born and raised in Ketchikan, where he started working in the resort business when he was a teenager. He has worked in housekeeping, as a front desk clerk, dishwasher, bookkeeper, and in fish processing.
Russell served an LDS church mission in Tokyo, Japan and spent time studying business at both Brigham Young University and Utah State University before moving back to Ketchikan in 1999 to work for The Cedars Lodge.
After managing the dock at The Cedars Lodge, Russell took over as general manager in 2000. In 2003, Alaska Sport fishing Expeditions purchased Clover Pass Resort, and Russell moved from The Cedars to take the General Manager’s position at Clover Pass.
Russell and his wife Leah have three girls and one boy. Russell serves on the local school board and enjoys singing, playing the piano, and writing his own music. He also holds a private pilot’s license and a general contractor’s license.
Lyle Williams was born in Idaho and raised on a cattle ranch near Saint Ignatius, Montana. As a young man he developed a love for the outdoors spending much of his time camping and exploring in the mountains of Western Montana. Following high school Lyle spent some time in the military, served a mission for the LDS church in Western Canada and graduated from Brigham Young University with a BS degree in Recreation and Youth Leadership.
After college he started his career with the telephone company in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was later transferred to Galesburg, Illinois and ultimately to Chicago where he served as Vice President of Telephone Operations for Centel Corporation. While in Chicago Lyle completed an MBA at Northwestern University. He also developed a love for canoeing and fishing in the Boundary Water Canoe Wilderness Area in Northern Minnesota. In 1990 Lyle resigned from the Telephone Company and purchased a resort outfitting business near Ely, Minnesota which he and his family owned and operated until 2002.
Lyle first joined Alaska Sport fishing Expeditions in the summer of 2004 when he spent 10 weeks at Silverking Lodge. The following year he joined the Staff at Clover Pass as the Assistant General Manager.
Lyle and his wife Shirley have two sons, five daughters and eighteen grandchildren. Shirley passed away in 2000 resulting in Lyle selling their business in Minnesota and moving to Utah. He now spends about half the year in Ketchikan and the other half in Provo, Utah. When he has free time he enjoys hiking, traveling and doing volunteer work for his church and hospice.
Jeremy Merrill moved to Ketchikan as a teenager and fell in love with the ocean, the wildlife, and his wife! Family took him further north to Fairbanks, AK where he spent a number of years working for Fort Knox Gold Mine. Jeremy served an LDS church mission in Raleigh, NC before returning to Alaska.
After getting married in 2001, Jeremy returned to Ketchikan and began working for The Cedars Lodge as a summer hand; which allowed time to study during the winter months. He worked as the dock manager at The Cedars Lodge before moving into the dock and marina manager position at Clover Pass Resort in 2004.
Jeremy and his wife Jaylyn have a three year old daughter and a new son. Jeremy enjoys traveling, fishing, and deep sea diving.
Tonja is a lifelong Ketchikan resident and has been involved in the fishing/resort business since 1994. She worked at Clover Pass Resort from 1994 to 1996 and returned in 2004. She became the office manager in 2005. Tonja loves working in this industry because she gets to meet new people and has a part in making their vacation a memorable dream come true.
Tonja, her husband Joe, and daughter Dyllan enjoy fishing, spending time at their remote cabin with family and friends and being involved in Dyllan’s activities.
Mishel Stovall is from Bozeman Montana and has lived in Ketchikan since the summer of 2006. Her work experience started as a young teenager in the restaurant industry when her family purchased JB’s Restaurant in Bozeman Montana.
Mishel attended Montana State University-Northern on a cheerleading scholarship and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Technology with a minor in Small Business Management in 2006. While attending college she worked as a marketing consultant and participated in student government as the Media Council Coordinator. In the summer of 2004 she participated in an internship program in construction management with Kiewit Construction in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
In July of 2006 Mishel and her husband, Reid moved to Ketchikan for him to continue his job as a Civil Engineer with the USDA Forest Service. Mishel started working for Alaska Sport fishing Expeditions in June of 2007 as the Marketing Director.
Mishel enjoys horseback riding, snow boarding, dancing, fishing, hunting, and shooting. She is the head coach for Ketchikan High School’s cheerleading program and enjoys taking dancing lessons in her spare time.
